About the Role:

UNICEF is seeking an Education Specialist - Inclusive Learning and Emergency Response to provide dedicated technical support and coordination of the education response to the Ukrainian refugee crisis covering both Ukraine and surrounding refugee host countries.

The successful candidate will work under the supervision of the Regional Education Adviser P5 and focus on the key results of the role, including:

  1. Providing technical support and assistance in the Ukraine refugee education response planning, monitoring, and implementation, information sharing, data management, and knowledge management.
  2. Providing technical guidance on inclusive education and multiple learning pathways approaches for refugees and other marginalized children.
  3. Providing technical support to the implementation of the sub-regional initiative on education, skilling, and job transition, PATHWAYS, in coordination with the Regional Pathways manager and ADAP section in the RO.
  4. Supporting partnership development and coordination with UNHCR, UNESCO, EU, and other partners, as well as UNICEF advocacy on refugee education concerns.
  5. Supporting RO and COs in preparation of Refugee Response Plans, Humanitarian Action for Children (HAC) appeals, etc., and following up with reporting processes.
  6. Providing inputs into RO programme planning and review processes (CPD, SMR, COAR, etc.) to ensure risk-informed and conflict-sensitive approaches are reflected in country-level education strategies and programmes, particularly in fragile and conflict-affected settings.
  7. Supporting any other Education in Emergencies (EIE) related work at the RO level.

About You:

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  1. An advanced university degree in one of the following fields: education, economics, psychology, sociology, or another relevant technical field.
  2. At least eight [8] years of relevant work experience in programme planning, management, and/or research in education.
  3. Experience in Education in Emergencies and/or Refugee response and coordination.
  4. Experience working in upper middle and high-income countries.
  5. Experience in education system strengthening work.
  6. Language requirements: [Insert the primary UN language you need for the fluency requirement].
