Japanspecialist is part of the JTB Corporation, one of the world's most prominent travel companies. Founded in Japan in 1912, JTB has grown into a global force in the tourism industry, employing over 18,500 people across 35 countries.
At Japanspecialist, we are dedicated to offering unforgettable travel experiences to Japan and beyond. With our 360° approach to travel design, we create tailor-made journeys that cover flights, accommodation, guided tours, excursions, and other specialized arrangements.
We are seeking a part-time detail-oriented Graphic Designer who loves brand systems, smart templates, and producing polished event collateral. In this role, you will be the go-to partner for the Graphic Designer and Marketing Coordinators, elevating their Canva work and ensuring every visual is consistent, accessible, and on brand. You will work primarily in Canva and Adobe - especially InDesign - for layout-heavy or print-ready needs. You will collaborate closely with the Graphic Designer to prioritize deadlines and project flow, keeping our campaigns visually cohesive across markets. If you are energized by refining templates, solving layout puzzles, and turning briefs into clean, professional assets, we'd love to hear from you.
Key Activities / Objectives of this role
Templates & Systems
- Audit and refine Canva templates created by Marketing Coordinators, ensuring correct styles, grids, and components.
- Recommend the right template for each use case, advising on aspect ratios, hierarchy, and readability.
- Add or adjust visual elements (icons, imagery, spacing, micro-layout tweaks) to enhance clarity and brand adherence.
Quality Assurance
- Review presentations prepared by Coordinators for visual quality, consistency, and accessibility; provide clear, actionable feedback.
- Maintain brand alignment across assets by applying established guidelines and documenting recurring patterns.
Campaign & Event Collateral
- Produce event print materials (banners, flyers, roll-ups, brochures, badges) from templates—especially when multiple assets run in sequence.
- Prepare press-ready files (bleeds, CMYK, export presets) and liaise internally to meet production requirements and timelines.
Email / Newsletter Visuals
- Review Mailchimp newsletters based on existing templates, focusing on layout, image treatments, and visual QA.
- Recommend improvements that increase scannability and brand consistency across campaigns.
Cross-team Collaboration & Workflow
- Coordinate with Marketing Coordinators, Graphic Designer and the Senior Marketing Manager to align on priorities, deadlines, and capacity.
- Manage file hygiene (naming, versioning, component libraries) so assets are easy to find, reuse, and localize.
Outcomes and KPIs
- Brand consistency: Adherence to brand guidelines across reviewed assets, measured via internal QA checks.
- On-time delivery: Assigned assets delivered by agreed deadlines for campaigns and events.
- Template adoption: Coordinators adopt approved templates from you.
Knowledge / Skills
- Advanced Canva expertise (component libraries, brand kits, multi-page presentations, export workflows).
- Strong Adobe InDesign skills for layout-heavy and print-ready documents; working proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator.
- Proven ability to build and maintain template systems that scale across teams and markets.
- Print production fundamentals: bleeds, margins, CMYK/RGB, image resolution, preflight, and export presets.
- Accessibility-aware layout (contrast, type sizing, hierarchy, alt-text handover).
- Meticulous file hygiene and versioning; organized asset libraries; clear layer and style naming.
- Clear written communication for feedback and handovers; collaborative mindset.
Experience
- 1 or 2 years in a design/marketing environment supporting brand or campaign teams.
- Demonstrated work creating reusable templates and producing event print materials from them.
- Experience with Mailchimp or similar email tools for visual production/QA is a plus.
Languages
- Proficiency in English.
We are looking for a person who is:
- Creative and systems-oriented, able to design once and scale many times.
- Pixel-precise with strong attention to hierarchy, spacing, and typography.
- Collaborative, comfortable giving and receiving feedback with Coordinators, Graphic Designer and the Senior Marketing Manager.
- Organized, able to juggle multiple deadlines and keep assets tidy and version-controlled.
- Adaptable, switching smoothly between quick Canva iterations and more complex InDesign work.
- Culturally aware, curious about Japan and how design communicates across markets.
What We Offer:
- Global Brand: Opportunity to work in an international environment spread across 33 countries and growing.
- Stability: 100 Years at the top of our field and still pushing into new territory
- Progression: We reward high performers and look to promote key talent internally
- Learning and Development opportunities for growth and Upskilling
- A Supportive Management Culture and autonomous working environment
- Company Wide Bonus Scheme
- Dedicated Employee Engagement Activities
- Flexible & Hybrid Working
- Annual Awards and Recognition for high Performers
- Friendly and Collaborative work environment
