Staff Data Scientist – Viewer Experience (Remote / Contract)


About the Role:

We are seeking a
Staff Data Scientist
to join our partner's Viewer Experience team and help shape how millions of users discover, engage with, and enjoy streaming content. You will build and optimize end-to-end personalization systems, refine scoring, ranking, and eligibility models, and leverage advanced ML to address cold starts, data drift, and explainable outcomes.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Analyze large-scale user behavior and content metadata to extract actionable insights.
  • Design, develop, and deploy ML models: collaborative filtering, content-based recommendations, sequence models, and ranking pipelines.
  • Integrate models into production systems with
    low latency and high accuracy
    at scale.
  • Collaborate with engineers, product managers, designers, and data scientists to define personalization goals.
  • Develop robust A/B testing frameworks, analyze experiments, and iterate based on performance and engagement.
  • Monitor model performance, detect data drift, and refine strategies for long-term personalization quality.
  • Leverage LLMs and embeddings to improve recommendations for new users, underrepresented content, and diverse formats.
  • Present technical strategies and results to cross-functional stakeholders and leadership.


Qualifications:

  • BSc/MSc in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • 8–10 years of experience in data science, preferably in personalization or recommendation systems.
  • Strong proficiency in
    Python, SQL
    , and relevant libraries (Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Expertise in building and deploying ML models into production systems.
  • Experience with big data technologies (Hadoop, Spark) and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP).
  • Strong understanding of statistical analysis, machine learning, data mining, and predictive modeling.
  • Comfortable leveraging
    LLMs and embeddings
    for personalization.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate business problems into data science solutions.
