Professional Backend Developer A (Java Scala, Kafka, DS, Fixed Income Risk Systems)

"The Fixed Income Federal Risk Applications department has a strong presence in Budapest. Our focus is developing systems serving as a data integration and feeding platform, ensuring that calculation results and other data initiated in our Division reach our downstream clients and meet all their requirements.

The main challenges in this area are:


• The volume of data (feeding hundreds of gigabytes daily).


• Interfacing with multiple systems.


• Exposure to different financial products to a certain extent.


• Resilience to errors while keeping our SLA commitments.

The data we feed is critical in fulfilling the regulatory requirements set by the FED, PRA, or BAFIN. Our team is also involved in developing calculations of regulatory scenarios requested by our Market Risk Department. The main technical challenge for this team is computational complexity.

You Will


• Develop IT systems covering various aspects of the business run by our Fixed Income division.


• Work closely with business users to learn financial products and market concepts.


• Participate in every stage of the lifecycle of an IT system — from gathering requirements and refining user stories, through designing solutions and writing code, to supporting users.


• Work on a diverse technology landscape involving various programming languages (Java, Scala, Python), data management systems, and CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).


• Contribute to solving a wide range of technical and business problems — from developing high-throughput, resilient data integration and feeding solutions to regulatory scenario calculations requested by the Market Risk Department.


• The specific focus will depend on skillset, personal interest, and team fit.

You Have


• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.


• A good command of English and strong communication skills.


• Prior experience in developing data- or computation-intensive backend applications (e.g. grid-based) is an advantage.


• OOP design skills with an understanding or personal interest in Functional Programming concepts.


• Willingness to understand and enhance other people's code and work on wider components, including legacy systems.


• Strong Java or Scala skills, with the willingness to pick up the other language if not already proficient.


• Spring knowledge is an advantage, but willingness to learn and enhance in-house frameworks is essential.


• Prior experience with Git, Bitbucket, Jenkins, pull requests, JIRA, and Scrum/Agile methodology is an advantage.


• Prior knowledge of financial products is an advantage.


• BSc or MSc in a relevant IT/Engineering field is an advantage"
