POSITION: Bar waiter / waitress

DEPARTMENT: Hotel Department

REPORTING TO: Hotel Manager

WORKING LOCATION: The workplace is on board the vessels managed by Scylla Gastro

Qualification and Profile

• Preferably experienced within the hotel industry and/or previous (river) cruise ship experience.

• Outstanding skills and experience in this role with strong customer focus

• Effective communication and active listening skills for conversing with guests

• Stress resistant, calm under pressure, resilient, team player with positive appearance.

• Open minded and flexible with high social, interpersonal and cultural competencies

• Ability to evaluate guest' s satisfaction and responsiveness

• Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages as German is an advantage.

• Professional attitude and appearance, reliable and hard-working with great team spirit

• Strong time management and organisational skills

• Dependability and physical stamina to stand for long period of time

• Being representative of Scylla´s values

Key Responsibilities and Duties

• Mixing and serving cocktails in a professional way, in compliance with international given standards and Scylla standards

• Daily set-up (mise-en-place)

• Communication with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve any complaints

• Joint responsibility for the active sales of drinks in the Lounge/Bar/Restaurant/Sun deck

• Service in the Lounge/Bar/Restaurant and on the sundeck

• Providing guest's service according Scylla standards including food service

• Joint responsibility for the coffee station in Lido Bar/Bistro/Arthur's/Public Area

• Joint responsibility for the professional serving and presentation of the entire F&B offer on board according to company standards

• Joint responsibility for guest satisfaction and the corresponding ratings

• Joint responsibility for cleanliness, order and compliance with the Scylla hygienic concept according to HACCP in the bar area as well as regular general cleaning

• Joint responsibility for dealing carefully with beverages, equipment, machines and cleaning agents

• Storing of the Bar stock and supplies

• Help create and implement F&B activities and events on board

• Joint responsibility for the separation of waste in the bar areas

• Active assistance in the restaurant as well as on the sundeck as per supervisor' s directives

• Preparation of inventories and orders for the restaurant and bar

• Fair and equal treatment towards all crew

• Joint responsibility for the compliance with safety guidelines in the entire bar area

• Knowledge of the ship and the respective daily program

• Professional and friendly guest service according to company standard

• Assistance in the housekeeping during guest exchange (making beds, restock the minibar,…) or with any additional tasks

• Weekly general cleaning of the restaurant and bar

Additional information:

➢ Additional tasks: participating/assisting with the loading, carrying the suitcases, keeping clean the messroom and your own cabin on daily basis

➢ Your purpose is to help and create a memorable experience for our guests

➢ Accommodation: shared room on board with one other crewmember (on some ships with more than one)

➢ Uniform: is provided by the company: before arrival the crewmember has to make sure to take black trousers, white shirts, black shoes with him in case the uniform isn't on board yet

➢ Demonstrate a good safety awareness and participation in the safety drills

Contract type: Swiss

Gross / Net salary: €2670,00 / €2023,20 (depending on your personal situation)

Vacation days: 90 free days per calendar year pro rata (= 7.5 days per month pro rata)

Tip money: fixed and included in the salary.

Start date: to be advised.

End date: unlimited
