ABOUT THE ROLE

We are looking for an experienced Database Engineer (Expert Level) who is fluent in written and spoken German and skilled in managing complex DB2 environments. The ideal candidate brings deep technical expertise in DB2, Linux, JCL, Python, and Ansible, and is capable of designing, optimizing, and automating critical database systems.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, implement, and optimize complex DB2 database architectures to support mission-critical applications and high-availability environments.

• Manage daily DB2 administration tasks including installation, configuration, monitoring, tuning, patching, and troubleshooting.

• Analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement tuning strategies for SQL queries, storage, memory, and system resources.

• Develop and maintain automation scripts using Python, Ansible, and shell scripting to improve operational efficiency and reduce manual effort.

• Create, maintain, and optimize JCL (Job Control Language) scripts used for batch jobs in mainframe or hybrid environments.

• Work closely with Linux environments for database deployment, configuration, performance monitoring, and integration with system processes.

• Implement and oversee robust backup, restore, and disaster-recovery strategies for DB2 databases.

• Ensure database security, access control, and compliance with company and regulatory requirements (e.g., audit, data protection).

• Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders in German, including documentation, incident communication, and technical presentations.

• Lead root-cause analysis efforts and support complex issue resolution for database-related incidents

REQUIREMENTS

• Fluent in written and spoken German and English languages.

• Proven hands-on experience with Dynatrace SaaS in Grail (mandatory).

• Strong knowledge of application performance monitoring and management using Dynatrace.

• Experience with Dynatrace installation, configuration, and optimization in various environments.

• Solid understanding of IT infrastructure, including networking, server, and application architecture.

• Familiarity with cloud architectures (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS), containerization (Docker), and orchestration tools (Kubernetes).

• Experience supporting alert configuration and management strategies.

• Strong documentation skills and ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.

• Awareness and adherence to compliance standards, including DORA.
