Role Overview:

We are seeking a highly skilled Principal Java Developer with proven architectural expertise to lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance systems. This role sits at the intersection of hands-on development, solution architecture, and technical leadership, requiring deep expertise in Java, modern frameworks, cloud-native architectures, and a forward-looking mindset with a strong advantage for AI/ML-driven solutions.

As a Principal individual contributor, you will provide technical vision, shape the system architecture roadmap, and mentor engineers, while also remaining actively involved in solving complex technical challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

• Architecture & Design
  • Define, evolve, and document system architecture aligned with business goals, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Drive adoption of modern design patterns (microservices, event-driven architectures, reactive systems).
  • Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies with emphasis on AI/ML integration.
• Development & Technical Leadership
  • Lead the development of core services, libraries, and frameworks in Java and related technologies.
  • Provide hands-on contributions to critical projects while mentoring and reviewing work of senior engineers.
  • Design, implement and configure logging, telemetry and alarms for critical monitoring points of our infrastructure. Develop tools and scripts for automating common tasks.
  • Take ownership of internal security compliance requirements and champion the rollout across teams. 
  • Establish coding standards, best practices, and ensure technical excellence across teams.
• Collaboration & Influence
  • Partner with product managers, stakeholders, and engineering leads to align on strategy and technical direction.
  • Act as a technical thought leader, influencing decision-making beyond your immediate team
  • Owns architecture across multiple domains, sets technical direction for large-scale programs, and is recognized as a go-to technical authority across the organization.
  • Support Program increment planning and cross-team initiatives in a scaled agile environment.
• AI/ML Integration (Strong Advantage)
  • Collaborate with data science and AI teams to integrate intelligent features into products.
  • Architect systems that leverage AI for automation, personalization, and analytics.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends in generative AI, model serving, and cloud AI services.

Required Qualifications:

• 10+ years of professional software development experience with strong expertise in Java, JVM, Spring ecosystem and extensive experience in building REST APIs 
• Professional hands-on extensive expertise in developing docker containers deployable in Kubernetes is a must
• Proven experience in architecting enterprise-scale distributed systems (cloud-native, containerized, resilient).
• Strong understanding of databases, Oracle DB, NoSQL, storage and distributed persistence technologies.
• Solid understanding of API design, security, performance optimization, and DevOps practices.
• Strong knowledge of databases (SQL/NoSQL), messaging systems, caching layers.
• Experience with cloud platforms (preferred OCI).
• Track record of leading technical design and mentoring senior engineers.

Preferred / Strong Advantage:

• Experience integrating or developing AI/ML solutions (e.g., model inference pipelines, recommendation systems, AI APIs).
• Understanding of MLOps, data pipelines, vector databases, LLM integration.
• Familiarity with modern frontend frameworks (React, Angular, or similar) for end-to-end solution awareness.
• Exposure to DevSecOps, compliance, and observability practices at scale.
