The Position
Clinical Trial Payment Specialist
The Opportunity
The Clinical Trial Payment Specialist will be responsible for facilitating all site payment activities related to Roche clinical studies, while ensuring compliance with country-specific regulations. This role requires a problem-solver who can achieve accurate and timely results while positively influencing others to meet objectives and milestones. The specialist will manage and triage escalations related to clinical trial payments, ensuring swift resolution and clear communication across stakeholders. They will also collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, such as Finance, Procurement, and Clinical Operations, to ensure alignment on payment timelines, reconciliation, and issue resolution. Proficiency in maintaining the accuracy of site payments through Roche database systems, such as SAP, MyBuy, and Veeva, is essential. The ability to work independently with minimal supervision will also be crucial in fulfilling these responsibilities.
- Payment Management: Record necessary information in Roche systems (e.g., SAP, MyBuy, Veeva), generate payment proposals/reports, and manage payments to Research Centers, ensuring timely execution per Clinical Trial Agreements.
- Reconciliation and Support: Perform payment reconciliation, assist Research Centers with payment issues, and provide site payment information to countries for financial oversight.
- Audit and Recommendations: Respond to audit inquiries and propose innovative solutions to improve payment processes, forecasts, and resources for enhanced efficiency and accuracy.
- Training: Train new team members on payment processes to ensure smooth onboarding and operational continuity.
- System Maintenance: Update and maintain vendor/contract information, study status, forecast data, and ensure site payment accuracy in the Roche systems.
- Issue Resolution & Stakeholder Engagement: Resolve payment-related issues, contribute to problem resolution, participate in stakeholder meetings as a subject matter expert, and serve as the point of contact.
- Performance Tracking: Calculate and distribute key performance indicators (KPIs) for payment processes, ensuring transparency and accountability among stakeholders

Proven interpersonal and collaboration skills, fostering trust, influencing others, and engaging effectively with colleagues and stakeholders both internal and external to Roche.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a financial or administrative role, with 1-2 years in the pharmaceutical industry as an advantage.
- Education: Technical/University degree in Business Administration and Accounting is a plus.
- Language Skills: Proficient English communication skills (written and spoken) are essential; additional languages are advantageous depending on region/customer needs.
- Core Attributes: Strong sense of accountability, prioritization, attention to detail, and ability to communicate clearly and accurately
- Interpersonal Skills: Strong collaboration, influencing skills, and building trusting and productive relationships.
- Organizational Skills: Ability to navigate complex, diverse organizations and liaise effectively across different departments.
