Regulatory and Operational Controls Vice President

Your Team Responsibilities
The Regulatory & Operational Controls (RegOpsCon) team is part of the Sustainability & Climate (S&C) organisation. The team is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining operational and regulatory control frameworks to support consistent, transparent, and well-governed processes across S&C. The function partners with business, Compliance, Risk, Technology, and Production teams to ensure controls are designed, executed, and monitored in accordance with MSCI standards and applicable regulatory and operational expectations.
Your Key Responsibilities
Operational Controls
- Implement operational control frameworks across S&C processes, ensuring controls are documented, embedded, and operated consistently.
- Maintain control inventories, process documentation, SOPs, and related artefacts in accordance with MSCI documentation standards.
- Coordinate periodic control reviews and ensure actions are completed within agreed timelines.
Control Oversight Framework
- Establish and maintain oversight routines covering control testing, monitoring, issue management, and reporting.
- Conduct operational control testing to assess design and operating effectiveness.
- Track remediation activities, verify completion, and update oversight records accordingly.
Root Cause Analysis (RCA)
- Implement a standardised RCA methodology across S&C.
- Review RCA outputs for completeness, accuracy, and alignment with internal standards.
- Monitor recurring themes and escalate systemic issues through appropriate governance channels.
Regulatory Control Management
- Maintain awareness of regulatory standards relevant to S&C activities.
- Conduct regulatory control testing to assess compliance with applicable requirements.
- Collaborate with Compliance and Risk functions to ensure alignment of operational processes with regulatory expectations.
Process Efficiency and Design
- Review existing processes to identify control gaps, inefficiencies, and improvement opportunities.
- Apply continuous improvement and operational design principles to enhance process quality, accuracy, and control effectiveness.
- Document and track process improvements and ensure adoption across relevant teams.
Reporting
- Prepare regular reporting on control performance, testing results, issues, and remediation progress for senior management.
- Ensure accuracy and consistency of metrics and supporting data used in management information (MI) reporting.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Coordinate with Technology, Operations, and other functions on system enhancements, control automation, and workflow improvements.
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives related to control design, testing, and governance.
- Ensure documentation, requirements, and testing evidence meet MSCI's audit and regulatory standards.
Your Skills And Experience That Will Help You Excel
- Bachelor's degree required, preferably in a relevant discipline (e.g., Finance, Business, Economics, Risk, Operations Management, or related field).
- Relevant professional certifications (e.g., Lean Six Sigma, project management, regulatory qualifications) are beneficial.
- Experience in regulatory operations, operational controls, risk management, compliance operations, or related oversight functions within financial services or a comparable environment.
- Demonstrated ability to implement control frameworks, conduct operational and regulatory testing, and manage remediation.
- Experience in process design, continuous improvement, and workflow optimisation.
- Ability to interpret operational processes, assess controls, and produce accurate documentation.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to evaluate evidence and identify control deficiencies.
- Proficiency in preparing structured reporting, metrics, and oversight materials for senior stakeholders.
- Ability to manage staff and direct work toward defined outcomes.
- Strong organisational discipline and attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, consistent with MSCI documentation and reporting standards.
- Ability to work collaboratively across global teams and functions.
- Ability to prioritise and deliver work to established timelines.
