What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in network engineering.
  • Solid understanding of Layer 2 / switching protocols. (Network associate level knowledge is an advantage.)
  • Good understanding of network management systems.
  • Familiarity with network interfaces and concepts (northbound/southbound).
  • Strong communication skills in English in an international setting.
  • Analytical mindset with experience in defect finding and isolation.
  • Ability to work efficiently within a cross-functional team.
  • Confidence to lead and present smaller projects independently.

Even Better If You Have

  • 2+ years in the telecommunications domain.
  • Experience in IT or enterprise environments.
  • Completed CCNA or higher-level courses (or certification).
  • Knowledge of interfaces and protocols such as Restconf, Netconf, SNMP, Kafka, etc.
  • Experience with SDN technologies.
  • Understanding of GPON / XGS-PON technologies.
  • Hands-on experience with access equipment (OLT, MSAN, ONT, CPE).
  • Experience with Huawei and/or Nokia OLTs.
  • Scripting skills for automation.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills in fixed access networks.
  • Familiarity with network monitoring and management tools.

About the team and the role

    Our Fixed Access Network squad within Deutsche Telekom's Technology Delivery International (TDI) organization is looking for talented engineers to join our innovative, international team.

  • We work with a wide range of network technologies, with a strong focus on continuously evolving network management systems. As a member of our squad, you'll contribute to the development and qualification of access network elements (e.g., OLT, ONT, HGW) and their management platforms.

    You will work with cutting-edge solutions such as 50GPON, FTTR, cloud-native architectures, access controllers, modern interfaces, and the integration of AI for Networks / Networks for AI.

What You'll Do

  • Act as a modern network engineer with awareness of the latest access technologies and standards.
  • Qualify network equipment according to Telekom technical requirements.
  • Align system roadmaps and manage software releases.
  • Participate in international tenders for new device introduction.
  • Work hands-on with next-generation technologies before they reach customers.
  • Support Telekom countries with new device onboarding.
  • Contribute to the evolution of network management interfaces (northbound and southbound).

  • We follow a flexible hybrid model. You can work from home or from our office next to the lab (where you'll have a dedicated desk). To maintain strong collaboration, we require at least 2 days per week onsite at our Budapest HQ.
