Responsibilities:

  • Perform hardware installations of network related equipment;
  • Install and test cabling required for the activation of RETN services;
  • Administratively process work orders in RETN network systems;
  • Proactively manage H&S issues on a daily basis;
  • Troubleshoot networking/internet working problems in a methodical and timely approach;
  • Communicate technical related activities with customers and vendors;
  • Perform routine checks on preventive maintenance on related facility systems/M & E Equipment/Fiber optic cables;
  • Possess the ability to manage operational issues whilst ensuring meeting customer expectations;
  • Local storage management and cooperation with accounting department regarding warehouse reporting
  • Provide regular progress updates to work flow management systems Complete/Update/Verify design and Network Inventory Systems Carry out site Surveys and Audits Create Permits to Work Contractor and Customer Supervision/Escort;
  • Undertake administrative duties, including access control and inventory management on a regular basis to ensure the continued successful operation of the network facility.

Requirements:

  • Education Level: University, vocational college or QBE;
  • Field Of Study: Telecommunications, Electronic Engineering, Computer Science or related fields;
  • A combination of education and experience is acceptable
  • Experience of working in the Telecommunications / Data Communications field is beneficial;
  • Ability to learn quickly and pick up new technologies;
  • Working knowledge of standard telecommunications wiring practices and associated hardware;
  • Knowledge of installation, testing and turn-up of Digital Cross Connects, SDH, DWDM or IP equipment would be preferable but not essential;
  • Knowledge of colocation facilities would be preferable but not essential;
  • At least upper-intermediate English language knowledge, other languages would be beneficial;
  • Attention to detail with good organizational capabilities;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and good time management skills;
  • Good reporting and analytical skills.
