About the Role

This is a full-time on-site role for a
Head of Risk
located in Budapest, Hungary, at
Pay10 EU
.

The Head of Risk will be responsible for overseeing all the developing and executing Pay10 EU Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) framework, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and supervisory expectations. The role requires leadership across regulatory, operational, financial risks, while embedding a strong risk culture and safeguarding Pay10's reputation as a trusted payment services provider in EU.

Responsibilities

Risk Governance & Framework

  • Design and maintain an ERM framework aligned with Hungarian National Bank regulations and international standards (Basel, ISO, PCI-DSS).
  • Define and monitor the Risk Appetite Framework, ensuring Board approval and adherence.

Regulatory & Compliance Alignment

  • Interpret and implement MNB circulars, instructions, and supervisory directives.
  • Lead risk-related inspections, prudential meetings, and regulatory reporting.

Financial & Credit Risk

  • Monitor exposures to banks, settlement partners, and high-volume merchants.
  • Assess financial resilience of payment accounts, instruments, and float structures.

Reporting & MIS

  • Deliver timely risk dashboards and MIS to the CEO Board and MNB.
  • Conduct scenario analysis and risk assessments for new payment products.
  • Report breaches of risk appetite and recommend mitigation strategies.

Culture & Advisory

  • Embed a risk-aware culture across the organization.
  • Train staff on regulatory expectations and evolving risk issues.
  • Advise senior leadership on emerging risks: fintech innovations, ESG, cross-border flows.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum 5-10 years of risk management experience in
    financial services,
    payments, or banking.
  • At least 3–5 years in a leadership risk role.
  • Fluent Hungarian and English language
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work independetly
  • Experience gained in the fintech field is an advantage
