vaylens GmbH is a leading provider of hardware-agnostic, scalable software solutions for Charge Point Operators (CPOs) across Europe and the UK. vaylens focuses on the management and monetization of EV (electrict vehicle) charging infrastructure, offering tools for station management, access control, billing, and monetization. In 2024 alone, an amount of energy of 140 GWh was charged via the backend. This corresponds to 700 million kilometers traveled or around 17,500 times around the world. (A consumption of 20 kWh/100km was used as a basis for the calculation.)

Overall Purpose of Job:

vaylens' e-mobility SaaS platform comprises more than 80 applications and microservices, forming the backbone of modern charging infrastructure. The platform intents to make the management and commercial operation of public charging infrastructure for business partners as simple and efficient as possible. Alongside with that vaylens' product portfolio also provides EV drivers an easy access to charging infrastructure with innovative payment solutions and a huge charging network based on roaming in the eMarketplace. To extend vaylens's good market position in the booming market new features and optimizations need to be designed and developed.

Main tasks, roles and responsibilities:

• As Backend Developer you will develop integrated software solutions for distributed and highly scalable cloud platform which consist of a variety of microservices and frontends.
• You will holistically accompany and influence the software lifecycle from challenging requirements as technical sparring partner of your product owner, over solution design and implementation to care of the productive product in the agile development team with a DevOps approach.
• Through active code reviews, pair programming, the exchange of best practices in the Architecture Weekly, a high degree of test automation and active processing of user feedback, you ensure a high level of quality of your software.
• You will collaborate with international colleagues in a Scrum team which itself is part of a scaled agile software development program (organized with SAFe).

Experiences and requirements:

• University degree in Computer Sciences/Business Informatics or similar education
• 5+ years of professional experience as Developer in Java Enterprise/Spring environment
• Java, Spring Boot, Spring Integration, Spring Cloud Contracts
• REST and JMS (RabbitMQ or HiveMQ)
• Maven, GitLab CI, Jira, Confluence as well as MariaDB (MySQL), DocumentDB and Redis
• Experience with microservices and cloud architectures in the context of AWS and PaaS (ideally Kubernetes)
• Software quality assurance incl. test automation with JUnit, Spring Boot Test as well as load and performance tests
• Ideally, knowledge of roaming protocols like OCPI and Hubject OICP
• Fluent English

Required Skills and Competencies:

• You love solving complex problems
• Agile methodologies like Scrum/Kanban and ideally SAFe organized you past projects and you internalized their advantages
• You have strong communication skills, an open mindset and willingness to take the ownership on your applications together with your team
• Ideally, you already have experience in the EV charging business
