At UNICEF, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Strategic Chief Audit Leader. As a key member of our internal audit team, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our audit strategies, ensuring that our operations are efficient, effective, and compliant with relevant laws and regulations.

Job Description

The Strategic Chief Audit Leader will oversee the planning, execution, and reporting of audits across various areas of our organization, including financial, operational, and performance audits. This individual will also be responsible for providing guidance and support to audit teams, as well as developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, including senior management, clients, and external auditors.

In addition to these responsibilities, the Strategic Chief Audit Leader will be expected to:

  • Develop and implement audit plans, ensuring that they are aligned with UNICEF's strategic objectives and priorities;
  • Lead and manage audit teams, providing guidance, coaching, and mentoring as needed;
  • Ensure that all audits are conducted in accordance with applicable standards and requirements, including the International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing;
  • Identify and address risks and control weaknesses, recommending corrective actions to senior management and other stakeholders;
  • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior management, clients, and other stakeholders, ensuring that they are aware of any issues or concerns;
  • Collaborate with other departments and teams to ensure that audit recommendations are implemented and that progress is monitored and reported on;
  • Stay up-to-date with emerging trends, best practices, and regulatory requirements in internal auditing, applying this knowledge to improve audit effectiveness and efficiency;

Requirements

To be successful in this role, the Strategic Chief Audit Leader must possess the following qualifications and experience:

  • Advanced university degree in business administration, economics, finance, auditing, accounting, or another related field;
  • At least 10 years of experience in auditing, preferably in a senior leadership role;
  • Extensive experience in managing teams and complex assignments in multicultural environments, government, and recognized international organizations;
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality audit results, identifying and addressing risks and control weaknesses, and implementing corrective actions;
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders;
  • Fluency in English, with working knowledge of another UN language an asset;
