About the Role 

Certara and Chemaxon own several modules in their product portfolio that handle research data for pharmaceutical and biotechnology customers. We are embarking on an ambitious adoption of new technologies in our chemical and biological data management platform. As an example, check out these products: Instant JChem, D360. 

As a Product Owner, you will play a critical role in transforming our data management solutions through modern architecture and technologies. This position offers the opportunity to shape the future of scientific research tools used by leading pharmaceutical and biotech organizations worldwide. 

• Collaborate with senior product leadership — Work closely with the Product Manager and another Product Owner to drive large-scale product development initiatives 
• Bridge technical and business perspectives — Serve as the key liaison between engineering teams, technology architects, and business stakeholders to ensure alignment on product vision and execution 
• Own the product backlog — Manage, prioritize, and refine user stories in collaboration with the engineering team to maximize value delivery 
• Partner with UX Design — Work daily with our UX Designer to prepare well-defined, user-centered stories ready for development 
• Drive agile ceremonies — Lead sprint planning, backlog refinement, and stakeholder demos to maintain momentum and transparency 
• Make data-driven decisions — Evaluate feature requests, technical trade-offs, and roadmap priorities based on customer needs and business impact 
• Participate in prioritization of new technology adoption — Support the team's transition to modern architecture including microservices, Kubernetes, React/Angular, Java, and distributed querying technologies 

• At least 3-5 years of experience in technical product management roles, with a focus on software products or SaaS-based offerings. 
• Strong technical background, with proficiency in cloud technologies, software development methodologies, and API-driven architectures. 
• Ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear business value and vice versa. 
• Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and driving successful project outcomes from conception to launch. 
• Experience in managing internal projects focused on SaaS solutions is desirable. 
• Ability to identify and pursue new opportunities for innovation and differentiation. 
• Ability to collaborate effectively with development teams, UX researchers, engineering managers, and other stakeholders to drive product execution and ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions. 
• Familiarity with Agile and Lean product development methodologies 
• Proficiency in data analysis tools and techniques 
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage and influence internal stakeholders, including executives, product owners, and team members. 
  

Bonus skills that will help you hit the ground running 

• Background in life sciences, pharmaceutical research, or scientific software 
• Technical experience with modern cloud-native architectures (microservices, Kubernetes, containerization) 
• Familiarity with frontend frameworks (React, Angular) and backend technologies (Java) 
• Understanding of chemical or biological data management challenges 
• Experience with distributed systems and data querying technologies.
