POSITION:    Executive Housekeeper

DEPARTMENT:  Hotel Department 

REPORTING TO:  Hotel Manager 

WORKING LOCATION:  The workplace is on board the vessels managed by Scylla Gastro

Qualification and Profile​​​​​  

• Preferably experienced within the hotel industry and/or previous (river) cruise ship experience. 

• Outstanding skills and experience in this role with an extensive hands-on experience

• Excellent organizational, inventory and decision-making skills

• Outstanding verbal and interpersonal communication, listening and team building skills

• Strong leadership abilities and management skills 

• Able to train crew members, able to build up the trainings and drive the change and look for 

operational efficiencies across the ship

• Guest focused, stress resistant, calm under pressure, resilient, team player with positive approach

• Open minded and flexible with high social, interpersonal and cultural competencies

• Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages as German is an advantage.

• Professional attitude and appearance, reliable and hard-working with great team spirit

• Must work independently, good computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT)

Key Responsibilities and Duties  ​​​​​​​ ​​​​​​​ 

​​​​​​​
• Responsible for cleanliness, orderliness and appearance of the entire hotel area on board in

compliance with Scylla standards  

• Responsible for guest satisfaction and the corresponding ratings

• Responsible for flawless cleanliness, order and compliance with the Scylla hygienic concept 

according to HACCP  in housekeeping and laundry as well as regular general cleaning 

• Ensure that rooms are made as per company standard

• Responsible for dealing carefully with equipment, machines and cleaning agents in the 

housekeeping department

• Responsible for the compliance with and the achievement of the predetermined turnover and cost

budgets  

• Daily inspection of cabins and public areas and clean a 4-6 cabins per day if necessary 

• Responsible for team building and team spirit in the housekeeping and laundry departments (role 

model function)

• Fair and equal treatment towards all crew

• Managing, training and mentoring the housekeeping / laundry crew according to Scylla 

standards. If necessary training of new crew and follow-up

• Support, training and mentoring potential (crewmembers on their way to management positions), 

in consultation with the Hotel Manager and/or Hotel Operations Manager

• Responsible for the behavior and appearance of the housekeeping  /laundry crew, including dress 

code during spare time on board/

• Responsible for the correct acceptance, care and return of guest linen as well as the crew uniforms

• Responsible for the inspection and return of crew uniforms at the end of the season

• Final responsibility for the separation of waste in the housekeeping department

• Active assistance in the housekeeping and laundry department

• Responsible for the correct distribution of daily programs, gift orders and turn-down services

• Care of potted plants and cut flowers as well as the decoration of public areas according to 

company standard 

• Preparation of inventories and orders. Maintain the stock of guest and cleaning supplies, linen 

and uniform

• Acceptance and control of goods delivered for the housekeeping department as well as correct 

storage

• Maintain good relations and communications with all other departments 

• Honest and open communication with all internal and external colleagues and third parties

• Competent human relations and cooperation with the cruise director as well as the navigation 

crew 

• Immediately attending to guest requests

• Plan, control and supervise housekeeping activities 

• Organize on-the job training and evaluate its effectiveness

• Coordinating the preventive maintenance schedule of rooms and public areas with the engineer 

• Professional and friendly guest service according to Scylla standard

​​​​​​​➢ Additional tasks: participating/assisting with the loading, carrying the suitcases, keeping clean the

messroom and your own cabin on daily basis  

➢ Your purpose is to help and create a memorable experience for our guests

➢ Accommodation: shared room on board with one other crewmember (on some ships with more than 

one)

➢ Uniform: is provided by the company: before arrival the crewmember has to make sure to take black 

trousers, white shirts, black shoes with him in case the uniform isn't on board yet

➢ Demonstrate a good safety awareness and participation in the safety drills 

Contract type: Swiss/Unlimited

Gross / Net salary: € 2840,00 / 2175,10

Vacation days: 90 free days per calendar year pro rata (= 7.5 days per month pro rata) 

Tip money: fixed and included in the salary
