ExxonMobil in Hungary

Established in 2004, our Global Business Center (GBC) in Budapest hosts a diverse team of around 2,000 professionals who drive ExxonMobil's global operations. Your Role in Our Team

We are seeking an experienced Data Privacy specialist to join the Compliance Enablement/ Data Privacy Office at ExxonMobil. This role involves providing data privacy services to the company's affiliates in compliance with local Data Privacy Laws.

The responsibilities include assessing specific situations, projects, systems, or contracts to identify Data Privacy constraints imposed by legislation and devising cost-effective and risk-appropriate compliance strategies. Advice is primarily shared through formal Data Privacy Assessments, but also through informal consultations or general advice on the internal network.

Data Privacy Advisors liaise with internal departments, Legal, IT, Business Units, and Audit teams, and are willing to travel when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain expertise in Data Privacy Laws, utilizing Data Guidance for additional insights
  • Conduct privacy impact assessments to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, seeking necessary information through various communication channels
  • Identify relevant legislation and compliance approaches, discussing alternatives with stakeholders to determine the most suitable course of action
  • Offer specialized advice on assessments, projects, and initiatives
  • Identify data protection risks and provide guidance on mitigation strategies
  • Document assessments, conclusions, and advice according to Data Privacy Office protocols
  • Clearly communicate conclusions and rationale to clients
  • Escalate issues to Legal and relevant stakeholders when needed
  • Find opportunities to enhance Data Privacy Office processes through:
    • Simplification and automation
    • Development of general advice
Desired Skills and Qualifications
  • Ideal candidates hold a relevant legal and/or privacy certification
  • Several years of comparable industry experience
  • Familiarity with privacy risk assessments and a strong command of the English language
  • Thorough understanding of IT systems in a corporate environment including Apps, Databases, Networks, Servers, Cloud services, etc.
  • Proficiency in International Association of Privacy Professionals certifications (CIPP/e, CIPT, etc.) or willingness to acquire them
  • Ability to multitask and work across global time zones
  • Effective communication with all levels of the organization on Data Privacy matters
  • Capability to influence without direct authority
  • Problem-solving skills with consultation of senior management when necessary
  • Independent work ethic with meticulous attention to details
  • Team player mindset
  • Strong presentation abilities
