Job Specification – Executive Chef

Company: GCCL (Cayman) Small Ships Management Limited

Vessels: One of three small seagoing ships (approx. 50 passengers each) sailing under the Maltese flag

Position Overview

GCCL is seeking an experienced and hands-on Executive Chef to lead the culinary operations on board one of our three boutique passenger vessels. The ideal candidate has a passion for quality, strong leadership abilities, and prior cruise ship experience.

Minimum Requirements
  • Hands-on mentality with an eye for quality and excellence

  • Proven leadership abilities and strong communication skills

  • Strong organizational and computer skills

  • Fluent command of English

  • Previous work experience on passenger ships

  • Fully vaccinated against COVID-19

  • Seaman Book issued by country of residence or Malta

  • Mandatory STCW certificates (at employee's expense):

    • Basic Safety Training (STCW Code VI/1)

    • Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats (STCW Code VI/2)

    • Security Awareness Training for Seafarers with Designated Security Duties (STCW Code VI/6-2)

    • Passenger Ship Safety (STCW Code V/2)

    • Ship Cook's Certificate (required by MLC 2006)

What We Offer
  • Monthly basic salary: 2,500 EUR (paid to bank account of your choice)

  • Tips: Shared equally among all crew members (avg. 600 EUR/month)

  • Rotation: 3 months on board / 1 month at home (+/– 30 days)

  • Contract length: Annual contract, paid year-round

  • Insurance: Private medical insurance coverage by Allianz

  • Bonus: Eligible if hired on or before March 31st

  • Travel policy: Company-arranged travel from nearest airport to home city up to port of embarkation

  • Internet: 4 GB free per month for 1 device

  • Accommodation & Meals: Single cabin and all meals provided free of charge

  • Refunds: Reimbursement for pre-joining GCCL medical report and alcohol/drug test

  • Contract type: Cayman Islands seafarer contract
