BESS Field Service Technician

Position: BESS Field Service Technician / Engineer / Project Manager (Multiple roles of Junior, Middle to Senior level)
Location: Buj, Northeast Hungary
Work format: Full-time / Employment Agreement or B2B Contract

We have an interesting career opportunity for a skilled Field Service Technician / Engineer / Project Manager in a leading international, UK-based, renewable energy company with a representative office in CEE region (Poland).

Our Partner is a well-established asset management company specialising in the origination, development, investment and management of real, renewable energy and power generation assets. With deep knowledge of the complete value chain and entire lifecycle of renewable energy projects, the companys local teams have successfully developed, financed, built and operated energy storage assets in the UK and EU countries. Core company expertise covering Battery storage development, Energy trading & analytics, Financial structuring, ESG and Net Zero commitments.

To achieve our Partner's ambitious goals in the CEE region, we are looking for experienced Field Service Technicians, Engineers and Project Managers (from Junior to Senior level) who will perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and warranty repairs along with commissioning activities on energy storage units at various BESS sites in Hungary.

Main Responsibilities:

• Maintain Energy Storage Systems to a high standard by carrying out regular inspection and maintenance, annual capacity tests, trouble shooting and reactive maintenance works
• Perform system software and firmware upgrades
• Monitor operation performance monitoring and data assessment
• Provide phone support and remote diagnostics to customers
• Troubleshoot equipment located at BESS sites
• Manage spare parts
• Responsible for safety work complying with local safety regulations and safety standards
• Conduct risk assessment and implement safety measures
• Keep up to date with any administrative duties such as timesheets, daily vehicle checks and providing daily job logs describing issues and actions taken during service trips
• Assist the in-house system engineering group in product development and/or project work
• Provide suggestions based on field experience, to improve the products

Qualifications and professional experience:

• Qualification in an electrical/ electro-mechanical discipline
• Previous electrical or multi skilled maintenance experience in Solar, Wind or renewable projects, BESS experience is a plus
• Basic IT skills (Word Processing, Outlook, Excel, IP and software for troubleshooting)
• Qualification of working on Site safely
• This role involves travelling to different sites nearby. Overnight stay or international travel may be required occasionally (Company can sponsor relocation)

Preferred experience but not essential:

• Working experience with BESS is a plus.
• Working knowledge of HV/LV power electronics including inverters / converters / transformers
• Previous HVAC training and F-Gas qualification
• Strong understanding of IT related subjects, CMD, remote desktop connections, networking (subnet, VLANs, static IP/DHCP), MODBUS/TCP protocols
• HV authorised person

Local specific requirement (depends on the role):

• Qualified electrical engineer / technician must complete a recognised vocational qualification (villanyszerelő electrician, or erősáramú berendezés-szerelő high-voltage equipment fitter)

Below is a Plus but not a must have:

• Fluorinated Greenhouse Gas (F-gas) and Ozone-Depleting Substance Handling Certificate
• Mérnöki kamara-registered electrical engineer
• Operate, maintain, or supervise electrical equipment, personnel must hold the Energetikai szakmai képesítés (Energy sector professional qualification)
