Position Overview:

As a Vehicle Integration Engineer specializing in Ergonomics, you will focus on optimizing the ergonomic design of BYD's new energy vehicles to ensure they meet the physical needs and usage habits of European customers. You will be deeply involved in defining vehicle layout parameters, improving seat design, cabin layout and control system ergonomics to maximize driver and passenger comfort and operational convenience.

In addition, you will contribute to building and maintaining the in-vehicle ergonomics database, supporting data collection and analysis to ensure continuous and precise design optimization. The role also includes training responsibilities – you will provide professional technical training to enhance team understanding and implementation of ergonomic design principles.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ergonomic Design Optimization: Define and refine ergonomic design requirements for new models based on ergonomic principles and competitive benchmarking. Update design and development standards accordingly.
• Cabin Layout Optimization: Evaluate and improve cabin layouts, including seat positioning, control interfaces and display systems, ensuring alignment with the needs and preferences of European users.
• Database Development and Management: Lead the collection, analysis and maintenance of vehicle ergonomics data. Establish and manage a robust ergonomics database to support ongoing design improvements.
• User Research and Feedback: Conduct user research and analyze feedback from European markets. Identify ergonomic issues in driving experience and comfort, and provide design improvement recommendations.
• Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with product design, R&D and manufacturing teams to implement and refine ergonomics-related design improvements.
• Training and Technical Support: Develop and deliver internal training programs on ergonomics to enhance the team's theoretical knowledge and practical application.
• Market Trend Analysis and Innovation: Monitor global and European trends in ergonomic design and emerging automotive technologies, providing insight to drive innovation in BYD's products.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Education: Bachelor's degree or above in Engineering, Ergonomics, Industrial Design, Mechanical Design or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 3–5 years of experience in automotive ergonomics, vehicle interior design or related fields, with a particular focus on seats, cockpit layout or ergonomic interfaces.
• European Market Experience: Prior work experience in Europe's automotive or vehicle development sectors, with a strong understanding of local consumer driving habits and preferences.
• Location: Based in Budapest, Hungary; candidates able to work long-term in Hungary are preferred.
• Skills:
• Strong knowledge of ergonomic theory and application for design optimization.
• Proficiency in CAD, SolidWorks or similar design software; prior experience in interior design is an advantage.
• Competence in data analysis and the ability to make design decisions based on ergonomic data.
• Experience with seat, steering wheel and control system design is desirable.
• Communication and Collaboration: Excellent English communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in multicultural teams; Mandarin proficiency is a plus.
