Financial Controller - Budapest

We're partnering with a global energy company that is expanding its finance team to support large-scale projects across Europe.

This role will give you exposure to international accounting standards, cross-border collaboration, and the chance to work closely with senior management on both operational and strategic finance matters.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and deliver
    financial plans, analyses, and reporting
    for major infrastructure and energy-related projects in multiple European markets.
  • Consolidate and produce
    group-level financial statements
    in line with IFRS requirements.
  • Support projects through their full lifecycle — from development to construction and into operation — ensuring financial compliance, managing repayment schedules, monitoring coverage ratios, and overseeing hedging activities.
  • Contribute to
    monthly, quarterly, and annual closing processes
    , including statutory audits at both local and group levels.
  • Review
    tax filings
    (VAT, CIT, etc.) and handle related communication with authorities.
  • Partner with finance leadership to provide clear insights, variance analysis, and recommendations to management.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and external stakeholders on accounting and tax matters.
  • Drive
    ad-hoc financial analysis and special projects
    to support decision-making.

Requirements:

  • MUST: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • MUST: Professional qualification (ACCA, CIMA, CPA, or equivalent)
  • MUST: At least 3 years of experience in an
    international or multinational reporting environment
    .
  • MUST: Solid knowledge of IFRS and exposure to local European GAAP.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with ERP systems (SAP or similar) a plus.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to work under deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Proactive communicator with a problem-solving mindset and collaborative approach.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)
