WORKING LOCATION:  The workplace is on board the vessels managed by Scylla Gastro

Qualification and Profile  

• Preferably experienced within the hotel industry and/or previous (river) cruise ship experience. 

• Very good verbal and interpersonal communication, listening skills

• Developing management, leadership and organisational skills

• Able to train crew members, able to build up the trainings and drive the change 

• Guest focused, stress resistant, calm under pressure, resilient, team player with positive approach

• Open minded and flexible with high social, interpersonal and cultural competencies

• Excellent English skills (written & verbal), other languages as German is an advantage.

• Professional attitude and appearance, reliable and hard-working with great team spirit

• Reliability and physical stamina to stand for long period of time are an advantage

• Technology skills with excellent computer skills (Excel, Word, PPT)

• Being representative of Scylla´s values 

Key Responsibilities and Duties 

• Sufficient skills and experience in this role with an extensive hands-on experience

• Friendly and competent guest service according to Scylla standard

• Communication with guests to ensure satisfaction and resolve any complaints 

• Taking  guests' s orders for food and drinks in the restaurant, bar or sundeck

• Serving food and drinks in all departments on the ship (restaurant, bar, room service, sundeck) 

in a professional way

• Knowledge of the menu and all drinks incl. wines in compliance to Scylla Standard as well as the 

allergies and any other food sensitivity

• Silver-tongued, professional and well-groomed appearance

• Manage a restaurant station of 45 to 50 guests, together with another waiter/waitress or barkeeper

• Active sales of drinks in the restaurant and bar, incl. the sundeck

• Wine knowledge, bringing wine selections to the guests and pouring drinks for them

• Providing general guest service, making sure they are enjoying their meals

• Setup of tables according to company standards as well as polish cutlery and glasses

• Assistance with the preparation of inventories General cleaning work in the restaurant and bar

• Weekly general cleaning of the restaurant and bar

• Adherence to cleanliness and hygienic regulations in compliance with HACCP regulation and 

company standards

• Careful handling of all foodstuffs, inventory and restaurant equipment (glass, cutlery, porcelain, 

etc.) 

• Compliance with the waste concept

• Knowledge of the ship and the respective daily program

• Fair and equal treatment towards all crew

• During embarkation Welcome guests, escort guests to the cabin, explain cabin/Suite, luggage 

service

• Assistance in the housekeeping during guest exchange (making beds, restock the minibar,…) or 

with any additional tasks

• Responsible for the entire restaurant and bar area (incl. bistro / lido) as well as service on the 

sundeck and the beverage storage according to Scylla standards

• Responsible for the professional serving and presentation of the entire F&B offer on board 

according to company standards 

• Being part of guest satisfaction and the corresponding ratings

• Being a part of responsibility for flawless cleanliness, order and compliance with the Scylla 

hygienic concept according to HACCP regulations in the restaurant and bar area as well as regular

general cleaning 

• Responsible for dealing carefully with foodstuffs, equipment, machines and cleaning agents

• Help create and implement F&B activities and events on board

• Being right hand of Maitre'd 

• Presence in the restaurant during breakfast, lunch and dinner or any service activity 

• Active assistance in the restaurant and bar as well as on the sundeck

• Assist Maitre'd for the table seating reservations if required

• Assisting Maitre'd in order to handle inventories and orders for the restaurant and bar

• Acceptance and control of goods delivered for the restaurant and bar as well as correct storage

• Being a part of the team-building and team spirit in the restaurant and bar (role model function)

• Fair and equal treatment towards all crew

• Assisting with the training the restaurant and bar crew and ensuring of follow up

• Daily team briefing / menu briefing as well as working in of new crew

• Supporting Maitre'd in order to train new members 

• Also being responsible for the behavior and appearance of the restaurant and bar crew, including 

dress code during spare time on board

• Being responsible for the compliance with safety guidelines in the entire restaurant and bar area 

with Maitre'd Hotel

• Maintain good relations and communications with all other departments 

• Honest and open communication with all internal and external colleagues and third parties 

Contract type: Swiss/Unlimited

Gross / Net salary:  ​​​​​​​ € 2840,00 /

Vacation days: 90 free days per calendar year pro rata (= 7.5 days per month pro rata) 

Tip money: fixed and included in the salary
